The shape of a market day

The long street market in De Pijp opens six days a week and fills by late morning. The flower market along the Singel, the Saturday market in the Jordaan, the cluster of small shops in the Nine Streets between the canals: a visitor can spend a whole day moving between them without walking far. That is the trick of it. You stand, shuffle, stop, and stand again, often on cobbles, in a crowd, with a bag getting heavier in each hand. By the evening, the legs and the shoulders feel it in a way the step counter does not explain.

Choosing a format

After a dusty market day on a warm afternoon, soapy massage starts in the bathroom and washes the day off first, provided the room has a large walk-in shower or a full bath. An oil session is the plain choice for any room. After a cold day of browsing outdoor stalls, body to body brings warmth back. Ninety minutes at 270 euros is the length shoppers usually settle on. The therapist decides what a session includes and states her limits before it starts.

Clearing the room

Shopping days leave the room full of bags, boxes and paper. Clear the bed and the space around it before she arrives, put the purchases in the wardrobe or on the desk, and turn the heating up. Shower, switch off the ceiling light, leave a lamp on. She carries towels and oil, so nothing else is needed, and she will ask for a warmer room if it needs it. Flowers bought at the stalls along the Singel belong on the windowsill rather than the bedside table, which the evening needs for a glass of water and a lamp.

A line in the thread helps: eight hours standing, heavy bags, a lot of cobbles. She plans the time with that in mind, though the session is hers to lead within the limits she sets. Nothing on this site claims a massage does anything for your feet or back beyond the hour itself. Two shoppers, one evening

Couples often spend a market day together, one carrying and one choosing, and a couple can book together at the close of it. With one therapist shared, the session runs in turns at 360 euros an hour; with a therapist each, it runs side by side at 720, and the room needs space on both sides of the bed, which means the shopping bags go into the wardrobe first. The booking needs a yes from each of you, and both of you need to be twenty-one or over. Say which arrangement you mean in the opening message, and the reply will check one diary or two.

The figures

With all taxes counted in, one guest and one therapist come to 180 euros for sixty minutes, 270 for ninety, 360 for two hours, 540 for three, and 1,250 for eight hours overnight. Nothing is added for the evening, the weekend or her journey inside the centre. Two guests sharing one therapist pay 360 an hour; a therapist each is 720. Deposits

A first booking with the house carries half the fee in advance, whatever the hour. So does any booking made more than twenty-four hours ahead, every overnight, every booking with two therapists, every session of three hours or more, every airport hotel and every peak date. A returning guest booking one or two hours later the same day, at an address in the city, pays the whole fee on arrival. Card, Revolut, Wise or cryptocurrency all work for the deposit.

When plans change

With more than twenty-four hours of notice the deposit returns in full, and one free move to a date within fourteen days is allowed. Inside the last day, while she has not yet set out, half the deposit is kept. Once she is on her way, all of it is kept, unless another guest takes the hour, in which case it is repaid. A booking without a deposit costs nothing before she sets out, and the journey share after.

Naming her

All twenty-three therapists are twenty-one or over, and every one of them decides for herself which bookings to accept. Name one on the first line of your message, with the hotel, the hour and the length beneath it; the answer names her if she is free and, if not, whoever is.
